Mantis Shrimp 101: Small but Mighty! (+ FREE coloring page)

This week we talked all about animals that have unique “superpowers” for survival. Our family’s favorite was the peacock mantis shrimp! Make sure to listen to our Animals with Superhero Powers episode that goes along with today’s blog for insight on other interesting animals.

This shrimp is very bright and colorful… but that’s not why it was our favorite.

It has extreme punching power!

• In fact, if a human could punch as strong as a mantis shrimp (relative to their body weight) they would be able to punch through steel. WOAH.

• They can actually crack and break through aquarium glass, so they aren’t necessarily great home pets.
